About Us
The Lucideon Library has evolved from the founding collection of Dr. J. W. Mellor back in 1938. This developed into the Mellor Library, opened by the British Ceramic Research Association in Stoke-on-Trent in 1959, and named in honour of this pioneering chemist and ceramicist.
Today, we provide a unique collection of ceramics and materials resources and in person and online library services tailored to the research and development activities of Lucideon, our technology partners and clients. The Lucideon Learning Zone is based at our HQ in Stone, Staffordshire.
We also participate in a reciprocal agreement with the Engineering Institutions’ Librarians’ Committee. The libraries included are: Energy Institute (EI), Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining, Institution of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMEST), Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), Institution of Structural Engineers (ISE), National Aerospace Library – Royal Aeronautical Society (RAS), Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and The Welding Institute (TWI).
